Voting Question: can house and attached studio be on same elec/water meters?
This is in Hawaii.
I’m having issues with my property manager raising my rent on me without notice, which I know she can’t do, but I have questions about a couple other things as well!
1. For two months we paid for landscaping and the guy never came by, I complained by email after one month- nothing was done, then I complained again in person after 7 weeks and she called him while I was there- he told her it was true he hadn’t been by in almost 2 months, no reason why, she told him he wasn’t going to get paid for the 2 mos. Then she hung up and told us he had also not come to collect payment for this time. I tell her I am not happy with this, I want him fired and to take over the lawn for the share of his payment off of my rent. He got paid 150/mo, she agreed to let me have 100 off since I don’t do irrigation. I said ok, but no start til next mo. She would let me know after she talked to him again.
Two days later I get an email saying ok, fine I can have the money off rent but my rent will be more starting the next month. (the part I already know she can’t do w/o 45 days notice). I tell her this is crazy, and I also inquire about what happened to the money for the last two months that was supposed to go to the lawn guy and didn’t? It’s in my lease that lawn care is included in my rent, and for 2 mos I didn’t have lawn care I paid for. She emails me back saying the lawn guy was sick (for 2 months?!?) and didn’t mention doing anything about the money owed. She just kind of blew it off and changed the subject. That’s 300 that should be either coming back to me or serving as something from someone else regarding the house!! Right?!
2. The house I live in is a 3/2 with an attached studio. The house and studio are on the same water and electric meters. Last month the tenant in the studios lease was up so it was her last mo. She blasted her a/c day and night if she was home or not. Then the electric bill comes and her share was only like $5 more than the prev. month when she hadn’t used her a/c! I know she used more than that and it’s not fair. Can the homeowner do that? Have 2 separate units on the same meters like that? And just charge at will?
I need a lawyer. lol.
holy crap! now she just stopped by on a sunday out of the blue, no notice at all. she came around to the back of the house and knocked on my door! she pretended she was here to check on the studio, that has been empty for a month and there’s nothing new with it at all. then as she was leaving she knocks and asks if we had a chance to read her email (her attempt to pretend to work things out with us.) we told her no and shut the door. has to give 48 hours notice!!! what a ****
