Open Question: Why do people think security officers/guards have no authority useless?
As a mall security officer, I kind of find it hard to understand how most of the democratic liberal shoppers/media in the good ol’ usa have came to the conclusion that we possess zero authority? Well let me give them a crash course on what we can do. Since we enforce the malls code of conduct, anyone breaking those rules set by mall management we can ask the person(s) to leave. These rules include no photography, loitering, soliciting, protesting, skateboarding ect… If they don’t we can escort them to the security office, take down their info and ban them from mall property.If they come back, we can arrest them ourselves for criminally trespassing as we are trained and issued handcuffs. For attackers and people who are violent, we can use oc spray to ward them off or to subdue them. As far as the parking lot is concerned, we can issue courtesy tickets to vehicles who are violating parking and traffic laws. This includes blocking roadways, parked on fire lanes/handicapped areas ect… We can also have vehicles towed/booted which comes with a hefty fine. We can also get people in trouble with the police as we work closely with them, as for example there is an underage drinker/smoker on property. Still think we have no authority?!?! To me it sounds more like people are just ignorant, which are mainly obama supporters, and they deny the truth. No good republican conservative Christian would deny the real truth.
