Resolved Question: Help me plan my trip to Ireland/Scotland.?
My fiance and I are going to Ireland and Scotland for our honeymoon in May. We’re flying into and out of Dublin, but we want to spend a good bit of our trip in the highlands of Scotland. We were planning to spend two or three days at the beginning of our trip in Ireland, then a day on the Isle of Man, and then head into Scotland for five days before returning to Dublin for our flight. We know nothing about these areas and cannot afford a travel agent. However, we both are newspaper reporters, so we think we can research it. Does anyone have any ideas about areas that would be good/non-touristy to visit in Northern Ireland? Should we stop on the Isle of Man, or just go from Ireland to Scotland? What areas of the highlands are good/non-touristy? We want the authentic areas. We hate touristy things. Also- any ideas for how we should get around? Bus, car, train? Thanks so much.
P.S. We plan to stay at hostels.
