Open Question: Why are Petsmart associates so ignorant?
Today I was in the fish isle looking for a healthy angelfish to add to my tank, and I saw this young couple and child walk in with 5 separate bags of dead fish…
I eavesdropped on their conversation, and the wife said,
“Well, I didn’t read the directions until it was too late. I added the fish into the water before letting it run for 24 hours and I didn’t add the chemicals I was supposed to add,” followed by a quirky giggle….
To which the employee replied,
“Yeah, you have to let the filter run for a few days just to get the water clean and stuff, ya know. So do you want the same fish, since they died within the 14 day warranty?”
Of course they said yes.
I’m standing here, like, WHAT THE HELL!!?? You can’t just run a filter for a day and then add 5 fish at once!!! I think one of them was even a plecostomus!! There would be no algae in the damn tank for it to eat!!!
Are people who work at pet stores too lazy to explain the nitrogen cycle and proper stocking, or are they just un-knowledgable? What is the deal here?
It truly disgusts me.
