Open Question: Where do these characteristics come from in ancestry?
I’m kind of obsessed with genealogy. I’ve been pretty successful in tracing back my family tree. I know for sure that I have ancestors from most of Europe (well, a good portion - Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, Isle of Man, Germany, Poland, Prussia, and Norway) and some Native American ancestry.
What I’m curious about is what parts of the world certain physical characteristics come from. I know there’s no way to get a definitive answer but I’d be interested at any guesses. Here’s some info about my/my families appearance:
-Short stature (all the women as far back as my grandma are 5 foot 2 or under, most of the men are 5 foot 7 or under)
-Curly dark brown/black hair (my sister and mom and I all have dark brown thick curly hair, my aunts and uncles have the same texture only jet black hair).
-Dark skin (you can definitely consider us white, but I have pretty tan skin all year round and in the summer I’m often mistaken for a Latino, and I’ve never had sunburn. The same goes for many in my family.)
- Blue/grey/green eyes.
