Open Question: Hot water issue and my crap agents…..?

My pregnant partner and I moved in to our new flat on the 17th December, by the 19th we were positive that there was a problem with the boiler as we were only getting about 4 inches of hot water in the bath and that was it for the day leaving us with no more hot water for the whole day and us washing our dishes in cold water….

I told our estate agents about the issue and someone came to look at the boiler on the 20th Dec. He was not a plumber but told us the boiler needed new thermostats and he would order them. He said they should be here by the 5th of Jan. That date came and went and noone had said a thing to us so I chased and chased the issue before being told he had only just ordered the parts! LIES!!!!

Basically he fitted the parts eventually….3 days ago, the 7th Feb!! Once we realised that hadn’t worked he brought an electrician round to look at it who found a wiring fault….yesterday it was finally realised that the bottom element isn’t even working hence us only getting minimum hot water!!!!

My real question is…..In the UK, even on an Island (the Isle of Wight) does anyone here think it is acceptable to have had to wait nearly 2 months for this problem to get fixed and that it is shocking how a plumber still hasn’t been sent round to look at our water heater?

The estate agents seem to think they have done all they can do but I am almost certain that they could have done soooooo much more especially as it’s something so important.

Please let me know what you think….

Oh and if any of you are plumbers please let me know how long it would take you to solve this problem with a 120 litre Santon unvented water heater that is only producing half the right amount of hot water it should be…..
