Open Question: England is a country?

My friend and I got into a argument about the British isles and how He told me England is not a country and he wants other peoples opinions so please help, England is a constituent country and all so just say true or false to the things I said. He even said Ireland is part of the UK.

British Isles: England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland.

United Kingdom of Great Britan and Northern Ireland: England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland.

Great Britan: England, Scotland, Wales.

Ireland: Republic of Irand, Northern Ireland

England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are all constituent countries of the United Kingdom of Great Britan and Northern Island.

The Republic of Ireland and Northern Island are two different countries.

I just need someone to agree on these facts so we can settle this boring argument and say I am right. :)
